Lead Software Engineer

My client, a leading consultancy, is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to join a major insurance client engagement in Dublin. This is a senior leadership role focused on delivering modern cloud-native solutions, managing multiple workstreams, and driving technical excellence across a large-scale insurance platform.

Responsibilities:

• Lead software engineering teams across multiple concurrent projects
• Deliver scalable cloud-native solutions within an AWS Serverless environment
• Provide hands-on development support across Node.js and Java Spring Boot
• Oversee architecture, code quality, CI/CD, and engineering best practice
• Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to deliver strategic initiatives
• Support the ongoing development of insurance platforms and core systems
• Drive efficiency through the use of AI-led engineering tools where appropriate

Key Skills:

• 5+ years’ experience with AWS Serverless technologies including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Aurora PostgreSQL, and SQS
• Strong hands-on development background with Node.js and Java Spring Boot
• Proven experience leading teams across multiple delivery workstreams
• Previous experience within insurance environments is highly desirable
• Knowledge of policy administration, underwriting, bookings, endorsements, or related insurance systems
• Experience with GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar AI tools is advantageous
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
